The impact alarm is triggered by a button mounted on the outside piece of the lock. If the outside piece is not firmly attached to the door the impact alarm can trigger. This can be caused by a warped door due to moisture, seasonal temperatures or settling of the lock into the wood over time. The solution is to tighten the lock to the door and ensure the impact alarm button is pressed firmly against the door. Do not over-tighten the lock, tighten it in small increments to see if the issue is resolved. Over-tightening can push the tailpiece against the cylinder stop too hard and make the lock difficult to open.
